Welcome to RC Dance Center
Our mission is to inspire, motivate, mentor and share the physical arts with students of all ages through extraordinary dance and performing arts experiences. Our program was designed to support students as they develop into confident, young, artistic performers who grow into creative, artistic adults. All classes are taught by professional teachers and performers that span all art forms and disciplines.
Students at RC Dance Center learn valuable life skills, such as teamwork, creativity, imagination, public speaking, problem solving, playfulness and responsibility – all in an atmosphere where it is safe to take creative risks.
RC Dance Center is unique as it is the only school in Los Angeles that offers American Ballet Theatre® National Training Curriculum, a program of ballet technique combining artistic training with the basics of dancer health and child development. Under the direction of Artistic Director Kevin McKenzie, ABT’s National Training Curriculum was devised by Franco De Vita and Raymond Lukens in collaboration with an artistic advisory panel and a medical advisory board. ABT’s National Training Curriculum consists of a comprehensive set of age-appropriate, outcome-based guidelines, consistent with the best practices in the fields of sports psychology, child/adolescent development, nutrition and training. The teaching methods of ABT’s National Training Curriculum incorporate elements of the French, Italian and Russian schools of training and are currently in place at the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School. The Curriculum will become standard at all of ABT’s pre-professional training programs, including ABT II, Summer Intensives and outreach programs. For more information on our ABT program, you can view this short video where our dancers were interviewed about the program as part of our Young Artist’s Gala in April 2014: Gala Video Presentation
Jennifer Thompson-Bosco, Artistic Director, is an Affiliate Certified Teacher of the National Training Curriculum since 2010 with many of her students passing examinations with High Honors. Ms. Thompson-Bosco was recently named “Best of Burbank” Dance Instructor by the LA Times Burbank Leader for 2013.
In addition to our nationally acclaimed ballet training program, RC Dance Center has a well rounded program that offers Theatre/Acting Classes, Preschool Dance as well as a strong Commercial Dance Program that includes Hip Hop, Lyrical, Jazz, Tap and Yoga. RC Dance Center is also the home to the Burbank Rockettes, under the direction of native New Yorker, Monica Sorce.
Designed to be family-oriented, RC Dance Center will provide your student with individual attention from our experienced faculty and caring staff. Our teachers are top in their industry with national and international training and performance experience; with many holding degrees in their field. With frequent performance opportunities, students grow as artists and increase their self-confidence, poise and presentation skills. At the RC Dance Center, we are committed to the artistic and technical development of our students as well as their health and well-being.
